Samaritans cause congestion on our phone networks

Just remembered this ridiculous poster campaign by the Samaritans charity in the UK. The Samaritans aim to help people in emotional distress, mainly through their telephone helpline .

Is it just me who thinks that the volunteers will be calling up themselves?

'My life isn't like the poster Shirley!!'

'Well didn't you take those drugs I gave you?'

If I wasn't suicidal before seeing the poster, I am now.

Is it just me who worries about the environmental impact of vigils?

After all, burning one paraffin candle for one hour will release about 10 grams of carbon dioxide. Now multiply that by 500,000 well-meaning vigilers. Not to mention the fire hazzard.

Two things struck all 164 people who watched the first episode of the Matt Lucas Awards on BBC 1:

2: Why isn't Matt wearing a comedy wig?

A Nightmare on Cinema Street

Not impressed with the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street by music documentary filmmaker Samuel Bayer. Freddy has none of the charisma or charm of the original Freddy. I like my child murderers to be entertaining and full of whimsy. Bring back Robert Englund.
